NatureServe Joins Conservation Measures Partnership

NatureServe has joined 30+ organizations worldwide as part of the Conservation Measures Partnership (CMP), a conservation organization that strives to promote innovation in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of conservation efforts, serving as a catalyst within the conservation community. Having now successfully developed and applied standards and tools such as LandScope America, NatureServe Vista, the Climate Change Vulnerability Index, Biodiversity Indicators Dashboard, and many others, NatureServe is further committing resources to help the conservation community better achieve and communicate conservation impact. NatureServe is enthusiastic to join the CMP community of learning and to contribute to the advancement and application of the Open Standards.

“I am pleased to represent NatureServe in the Conservation Measures Partnership,” stated Patrick J. Crist, NatureServe’s Director of Conservation Planning. “I look forward to working with my peers and colleagues to measure the effectiveness of conservation actions and share lessons learned.”

“In the face of growing ecological and political uncertainty, it is now more important than ever to be able to demonstrate positive, credible conservation outcomes,” noted NatureServe President & CEO, Gregory Miller. “As we look ahead to the future of biodiversity conservation, we will be held to a higher standard for impact and accountability, and the CMP provides us that mechanism.”

About the Conservation Measures Partnership (CMP)

The Conservation Measures Partnership (CMP) is a partnership of conservation organizations that seek better ways to design, manage, and measure the impacts of their conservation actions. CMP members work together on issues related to impact assessment and accountability because collectively we have a greater chance of designing and implementing effective monitoring and evaluation systems and ultimately, enhancing program and project design and implementation. CMP strives to promote innovation in monitoring and evaluation of conservation efforts, serving as a catalyst within the conservation community. Website: www.conservationmeasures.org

About NatureServe

NatureServe is an international non-profit biodiversity conservation organization comprised of 86 Network Programs encompassing more than 800 biodiversity scientists who discover, innovate, and conserve over 70,000 species and 7,000 habitats that are at-risk of extinction in the Western Hemisphere. The NatureServe Network collects accurate, real-time data about imperiled species and entire ecosystems, transforms the data into knowledge products and visualizations, and provides meaning through expert analyses to guide decision-making, implement action, and enhance conservation outcomes. NatureServe diligently keeps its finger on the pulse of the planet, providing decision-quality knowledge to ensure the preservation of species and natural communities.
