The documentation of Bolivia's flora and vegetation began less than 40 years ago and already shows a 70% advance in vascular groups with 350,000 scientific collections. The leadership of the National Herbarium of Bolivia has managed to consolidate many national and international groups of collaboration and mark historical milestones in the scientific advancements of the country and the region including: A guide for trees (1993), Map of vegetation (1996)Catalogue of plants (2014) and soon the Catalog of Flora, among others. Today the National Herbarium of Bolivia (LPB) is committed to contribute to science and society.

Mónica Moraes Ramírez

Originally from Bolivia, Mónica studied biology at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz, obtained a master's degree in 1989, and a doctorate in 1996 at the University of Aarhus (Denmark). She is a full-time professor at the UMSA University since 1990 and is in charge of the palm tree collection at the Bolivian National Herbarium since 1984. Mónica has 18 published books; 44 book chapters; 61 scientific articles; 3 academic theses; 23 editorials and other publications; 70 abstracts at scientific events; and 18 guides and manuals to her credit. To date, she has directed 58 undergraduate and graduate theses in biology and agronomy.
