Frank McLean joined NatureServe in mid-2007 with a 20 year track record of software development. After a decade as a Senior Software Engineer, helping to define the direction of NatureServe's application development in areas such as the Environmental Review Tool, Biotics and iMap Invasives, Frank transitioned to the role of IT Manager. While supporting and improving the existing on-premise VMWare environment, he has steered NatureServe on a path of migration to a mix of AWS and Azure deployments, notably in the design of NatureServe's revamped geospatial analysis and modelling environments. Frank has a broad range of platform, programming, web and database skills, gained working first for a software house, where he rose to project lead a team of software and support engineers, then as an independent software consultant and finally, in his last position before joining NatureServe, as the Chief Information Officer for SentryLink, a company he joined at inception and helped grow into a multi-million dollar enterprise.
