David Bucklin has over 13 years of career experience using spatial technologies and data science tools to support ecological research and biodiversity conservation. He grew up in southern Minnesota and completed his Master's degree in Geography at Oregon State University, where he developed a passion for ecology and conservation. After an internship at the Conservation Biology Institute, David went to southern Florida to work in a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation group at the University of Florida, contributing to ecological modeling, connectivity, and wildlife movement research projects. He is currently a Spatial Ecologist at the Virginia Natural Heritage Program, where he develops species habitat models, conservation prioritization tools, and other data products to support the conservation of Virginia's biodiversity. In his free time, David can be found pursuing various outdoor pursuits, including running, hiking, disc golfing, birdwatching, and biking.
